Run by Continental Hair, Wigs for Kids makes donated hair into small cap wigs for children under 12 with full or partial hair loss. These are made available free of charge.
Hair must be at least 10 inches (25 cm); layered hair is acceptable if the longest layer is 10 inches. Unlike most other organizations, dyed or coloured and grey hair are accepted, as is hair that had been cut years ago and stored in either a braid or ponytail. Hair that had a perm, been bleached or in dread locks are not accepted.
Hair must be clean and dry and must be in a braid or ponytail before it is cut. Secure it in a ponytail at both ends and place in a clear plastic bag.
Donations can be dropped off in person (Tuesday to Friday 10 am to 5pm or Saturdays 9am to 4pm) or placed in an envelope and mailed.
This applies to Human hair.
