     Use this as "green" (nitrogen-rich) material in your composter, except for thick vegetable stalks and stems, which you can use it as carbon-rich material. Chop up into small pieces to speed up the composting process.

     If your compost is an open pile, mix it in so that food is not at the top to reduce pests. Due to concerns about pests, composting food outdoors is not permitted in some communities.

     Contrary to popular myth, there are no problems with composting citrus fruits.
